Amber's Musical Success
Amber Majeed won the 'Echt Factor' talent contest and her prize was a chance to record some music in a professional recording studio. After learning that a close family friend had to cope with dialysis treatment three times a week, she decided to make a CD to help raise funds for Kidney Research UK.
Amber is 11 years old and is planning to record two songs a month from now on. The CD has two tracks on it - "Part of that World" from Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' and "When There Was Me and You" from Disney's 'High School Musical'. The CD can be purchased for £5 from http://www.justgiving.com/ambersmusic |

Have you got what it takes to become a TV or film star, singer, dancer, actor, TV presenter, stand-up comedian or a top model?
Worldwide acclaimed AMTC (Actors, Models and Talent Convention) are currently scouting throughout the UK to give talented performers the opportunity to be discovered by top agents and casting directors.
With over 27 years of success in America, this is the first time that this Convention is coming to Europe. Participants will have the opportunity to perform to 50-150 leading industry professionals from TV, film, music, dance and fashion.
The Convention will take place at Disneyland Paris in November this year. There won't be much time to hang out with Mickey Mouse and his friends though because, as well as having the chance to perform for top agents and casting directors, there will be a packed schedule of workshops, speed networking sessions, call backs, plenty of advice on how to pursue a career in the industry, and, for the lucky ones, maybe even a screen test!
In the North East of Scotland it's hard to be seen by top agents and casting directors, so, applying to attend AMTC in November could open a lot of doors for budding young performers.
AMTC has hundreds of recognisable success stories, working in films, TV and theatre, as well as professional singers and models with major agencies around the world.
Big name models and movie stars like Mena Suvari and Dakota Fanning started out at AMTC. Closer to home, Sam Angell, who travelled to the American version of the Convention from Glasgow, signed with a New York and Los Angeles agent and is currently starring as 'Young Billy' in 'Billy Elliot' in the West End. On top of that, one of his classmates won a Scholarship to the prestigious New York Film Academy.
In order to prepare for the Convention, you will participate in a course of workshops in Aberdeen, as well as monthly training sessions in Edinburgh with leading industry professionals.
AMTC Europe has appointed Clare Haggart and Liz Milne of Aberdeen's Phoenix Theatre and Phoenix Youth Theatre as regional scouts.
So, just who are AMTC looking for? UK Regional Director Lynne Millar says "AMTC success stories come in all ages, sizes and types, as long as you have the talent!" Lynne puts the AMTC success rate down to the recipe of "inviting the right contestants, bringing along the best excellently prepared contestants, and putting them all together for a fantastic six day event" and added, "We can't wait to see the talent the North East of Scotland has to offer".
Our local scouts will be auditioning actors, models, singers and dancers from beginners to professionals, ages 4 and up, on Sunday 29th June 2008 at Ferryhill Church, Aberdeen.
To register for these auditions and for more information, including fees and costs, contact our local scouts at phoenix_theatre@hotmail.com or on 01224 863946. For additional information about AMTC, visit www.amtcworld.com. |
